From the Desk of the HOD

Electrical Engineering department is an enviable entity with more industrial oriented programs and Lecturers with a lot of Industrial experience. The department has trained students who have been employed into industry. Examples of some of the industries include Vodafone, Electricity Company of Ghana Just to mention a few. The department started with 24 Students in the year 2007 and currently we have a student population of 250. The department collaborates with industry to enable students familiarize with current trends in industry. Students are well equipped with managerial skills to fit into the middle level man power need of the country. Also student’s engineers are trained in entrepreneurship skills to enable them stand on their feet. Regularly Staffs of the faculty embark on industrial visits and attachments to re-equip themselves with latest Technology. The department is open to the community for training and consultancy. The Electrical/Electronic Engineering department is the first in the country among similar departments in sister polytechnics to offer B.Tech. in Telecommunication Engineering in addition to the HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering programme. It also offers Non-HND programmes in Electrical Engineering Technician Part I and II. The department provides services to all other departments in the polytechnic that offer Electrical and Electronic related courses.

Goals and Objectives


To equip students with practical and managerial skills to meet the demands of local industrial.

Specific Objective:

  • Training students to become the best Electrical/Electronic Technician Engineering Practitioners in the country
  • Bringing Students abreast with current developments and innovations in the Electronic/ Electronic Engineering fields
  • Training Students towards self-employement after graduation
  • Promoting research work in the institution for the benefit of the local industries

Vision And Mission


The Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department aims to carve out an image for itself within the Polytechnic vis-à-vis produce students well-seasoned for performance in the industry after graduation.


The department aims to run programs that are recognizable and highly – related nationwide with the view of meeting the skilled and middle-level manpower needs for development and efficient management of industrial organizations.
